GOD’S VALENTINE
JOHN 3:16-18; 1 JOHN 4:9-10

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

1. WHY DOES GOD LOVE YOU?
a. Because He created you.
b. Because God is love.
c. For His name’s sake.

John Piper said, “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in
him.” Therefore, because God is so committed to his own glory, God is also
just as committed to loving us because through his love God is glorified.
God’s love and our good truly are intertwined for all eternity.

2. HOW DOES GOD LOVE YOU?
a. With an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3)
b. Before you could ever love Him.(1 John 4:10ff)
c. While you were still a sinner and far away. (Romans 5:8)
d. With faithfulness. (Deuteronomy 7:9)

3. GOD LOVES YOU WHETHER YOU LOVE HIM BACK OR NOT
a. He can’t love you more than He loves you.
b. He can’t love you less than He loves you.
c. You can’t stop Him from loving you!
d. But you can reject His love...

So how does one respond to the Love of God?
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet
sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your
heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the
heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he
confesses, resulting in salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)
