CHILDREN ON BOARD
EPHESIANS 6:1-4
The hope of every Christian parent is that their children will also become
believers who walk faithfully with the Lord.
Helping our children learn about God and learn how to navigate a life of faith
in this sinful world is the high calling of Christian parenting.
Paul begins chapter 6 with:
1. INSTRUCTIONS FOR CHILDREN
a. Obedience (v.1)
b. Honor (v.2)
c. Life(v.3)
Jesus obeyed His parents, so follow His example.
“And He went down to Nazareth, and He continued in subjection to them;
and His mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus kept
increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” (Luke
2:51-52).
Obedience is about the action taken, honor is about the attitude.
Obedience must be taught.
Children are children. Now that is not an excuse, but a fact. They have to
be nurtured and that leads us to…
2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR FATHERS/Parents
a. Be careful in your discipline
b. Be intentional in your instruction.
c. Be deliberate in your discipleship
Bring them up means raise to maturity.
Model Christlike living before them.
Let them see you praying, reading your Bible and growing in grace.
